"Titanic:" tells of the English narrator's anger against Americans for taking over his father's failing shipline and how that anger turns to revenge as in his fury, he sells his soul to the Devil. That the narrator has to witness and then regret the horrors of his demands makes this a highly recommended Christian novel without the platitudes and preaching dialogue that often revolts readers.

In the case of Mr. Thornton, the factual details state that once Thornton realized that McConkey had not left his house and noticed that the drapes to the front downstairs bedroom were closed that he listened near the window until he heard the “unmistakable sounds” of sexual intercourse.  It was only after being sure that his wife and Mr. McConkey were engaged in sexual relations that he responded.  Some may think that this may not mean all that much in the grand scheme of things however prior case law states otherwise.

For instance in  Daniels v. State, 162 Ga. 366, 369 (1930) the court stated that, "While the jury may acquit the slayer [of the Paramour] of all crime, and should do so if they find that the killing was necessary, or apparently so, either to prevent the commission of a sexual act or the completion of it.  Yet, if the circumstances were not such as to impress a rational mind that it was necessary to take human life to prevent the sexual intercourse, and if the jury should find that the slayer killed the deceased under a violent and sudden impulse of passion, engendered by the circumstances, the homicide would be manslaughter,”

In Henderson v State, 136 Ga. App 490 (1975) the court there stated, “According to the modern rule, a man who, moved by the passion naturally engendered in finding his wife in the act of adultery with another, immediately kills his or her paramour, is guilty of manslaughter only.”  However, in the case of Mr. Thornton, Thornton hesitated when he broke down the door to the bedroom and caught his wife naked in bed with another man.  In his testimony to the court he stated he, “then burst through the front door and into the bedroom where he found the nude couple and attempted to take some pictures.” At that point, he testified that he “thought McConkey was attempting to attack him. In all events, he drew his pistol and fired a single shot.”  

Quickly Ashley turned her entire body back toward the web cam, her eyes staring deeply into the lens of the camera. Tears running freely from her eyes, she screamed for her friends help. Unable to move his fingers across the keyboard any further he froze mid-sentence, chilled to the bone with fear, unable to look away, he continued to watch, freaked out of his mind.

With a horrid flash of clump red liquid, he saw the strangers hands come down forcefully upon Ashley’s skull, burying the blade up to the hilt, just before the blood from her skull splashed onto the lens of the web cam, covering any other movement from his view, until finally the camera all together quit and went black.

As he walked closer to her, he gently graced his fingers of her hand, the voices of her loving daughters became silent and all that she could hear was his voice. As he said, "Mother, its time, my love, It’s time to go, he is calling for you." “Daddy,” she said softly, “I’m Scared . . . Please… I don’t want to leave them alone…” she paused looking ever so deeply into his loving eyes, “Please . . . I’m . . . I’m Scared.” She gasped.

Clasping his hands into hers, he softly kissed the top of her forehead, “there is no reason to be scared… we taught them well my love.”
